But I’m a Cheerleader Free film screening and Disco!
It’s Pride month and to celebrate we are hosting a FREE event at the lovely Fellowship and Star over in bellingham. We will be screening But I’m a Cheerleader (1999) with a fabulous disco afterwards all you have to do is come along! Don’t know about the film? It’s a classic and stars Natasha Lyonne, Clea DuVall and RuPaul!
Megan (Natasha Lyonne) considers herself a typical American girl. She excels in school and cheerleading, and she has a handsome football-playing boyfriend, even though she isn’t that crazy about him. So she’s stunned when her parents decide she’s gay and send her to True Directions, a boot camp meant to alter her sexual orientation. While there, Megan meets a rebellious and unashamed teen lesbian, Graham (Clea DuVall). Though Megan still feels confused, she starts to fall for her fellow camper. Full of laughs with a couple of harrowing moments, But I’m a Cheerleader is still relevant today as it was 20 years ago, with a brilliant cast and fantastic visuals its a Pride Must See!
We will probably play a few games before the movie and afterwards have a glittery, campy, high energy disco, with your two fave female DJ’s from WDGD spinning tunes until late!!
All this is FREE thanks to our lovely friends at The Fellowship and Star in Bellingham, South East London’s amazing new venue! Tickets are available on the door on the night or book online from the ticket link.
Happy Pride everyone and see you there!
